Mission

EUCLID mision is to interconnect national lightning detection networks and establish a united lightning location network covering the greater part of Europe. One of the reasons for connecting national lightning detection networks in one large network, is to provide homogenous lightning data all over the territory of Europe. EUCLID's mission is to constantly upgrade it's network and therefore provide lightning data with high detection efficiency and location accuracy. EUCLID also provides services on wide areas (multinational) to different customers.

Another goal of EUCLID is to support research and development that leads directly to new applications and use scenario of lightning data. We support research aimed to improve scientific understanding of lightning phenomena and meteorological use of lightning information.
